Influenced by both an upper cold vortex and surface cyclones, a Sand and Dust Storm originating from the Sahara Desert region in Africa swept across the Mediterranean, impacting Greece on 23rd April. Driven by strong southerly winds, the Storm affected numerous areas of Greece, including the capital, Athens, where the sky took on an orange-yellow hue due to the Sand and Dust Storm. According to the Greek meteorological department, this event ranks among the most severe sandstorms Greece has faced since 2018. Analysis of meteorological data suggests that the impact of the Sand and Dust Storm gradually ended after the 24th. (RSMC-ASDF BEIJING reported on 26th April ).
